A new guidebook to the medieval city of York has been released, packed with pictures, useful information and... local smells.

The unusual book is the UK's first scented travel guide - aimed at tempting travellers to the city by teasing their noses with a bouquet of delightful aromas.

The free guidebook - helpfully entitled Smell York - is infused with the scents of afternoon tea, chocolate, wild moorland, a day at the races, steam trains, gunpowder and even the sulphorous aromas associated with York's smelliest ghost.
