ELMA’s last Annual General Meeting took place in Gdansk / Poland on May 5th and 6th 2011. Our Polish ELMA member I.D. Marketing S.A. situated Warsaw organised a very traditional location for the meeting and the accommodation, the Sofitel Grand Sopot, was directly situated at the Baltic Sea promenade.

Thanks to the very good relationship of Robert Kusiak with local politicians one of the highlights of the social program was the presence of honourable Nobel Prize winner Lech Walesa at the gala dinner on Friday night. The extensive and interesting speech of the former Polish President and head of the Labour Party was very moving. The exceptional event will remain unforgettable for all attendees.

With the election of feibra GmbH, Vienna, as a full member, ELMA consists currently of 22 full members. Congratulations to the feibra-team for their election!

One highlight of the meeting was the “Bekey” presentation of the Danish ELMA colleagues. The Danish company developed an electronic key system to give access to buildings and flats for formally accredited staff by using their mobile phones. This business is taking off very successfully and could be an interesting opportunity for other ELMA-members. Another highlight was presentation of Walter Werbung (Germany) in which many ideas for alternative promotional and marketing services were shown to the captive audience.

The door drop and mail box direct marketing media has again grown in demand and is a significant component of media campaigns. The results of a Swedish analysis showed that printing out at home has a greater environmental impact than any of the other advertising media like unaddressed distributions.
