On Monday 31 October, The Fairtrade Week promotional leaflet will be delivered to two million Dutch households.

For the first time ever, the Max Havelaar Foundation will distribute a leaflet highlighting special Fairtrade offers from four separate retail organisations: supermarkets Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Lidl and PLUS. The leaflet will also include discount coupons from various other retailers. The discounts, which can be used during Fairtrade Week, are for products bearing the mark of Dutch Fairtrade organisation Max Havelaar. Netwerk VSP is sponsoring the door to door distribution of the leaflets.

With the Fairtrade Week promotional leaflet, the Max Havelaar Foundation intends to draw attention to farmers and workers in developing countries who, thanks to Fairtrade, are working towards a brighter future. In the leaflet, farmers explain the importance of Fairtrade products, like coffee, cocoa, bananas and flowers, for their development. Four Fairtrade products are featured for each retailer, with coffee, chocolate, peanut butter, wine and much more being offered on discount.

The partnership between Netwerk VSP and the Max Havelaar Foundation, which started four years ago, has proven very successful. That’s why the initiators have once again this year decided to use the services of the largest mail distributor in the Netherlands for a door to door campaign. The promotional leaflet concept was devised by the advertising agency Jump.
